About the Team
The Edwin O. Smith High School Crew team was established in 1992. We are the only public school rowing program operating out of the Northeast corner of the state.
We have fall and spring competitive seasons and optional conditioning through the winter months, with more athletes participating in the Spring. The E.O Smith Panthers practice on Coventry lake, Coventry, CT at the Patriots Park boat house. This beautiful spot is also the home of the UConn men's and women's Crew team.

In the fall, the crew team is a co-ed club sport and we practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. During the fall, the team is supported by the "Friends of E.O. Smith Crew."
In the spring, the team practices five days a week and is sponsored by the school and Friends of E.O. Smith Crew. We have four teams: novice girls, novice boys, varsity girls and varsity boys. “Novice” is for those athletes who have not rowed with a high school team in the past, regardless of their grade level in high school. No experience is necessary. Some novice rowers come to us with no experience, others have had the opportunity to attend rowing camps before joining the team.
